When we talk about “energy and women in STEM,” we’re talking about the fact that, despite the growing significance of renewable energy initiatives that could benefit from diverse perspectives, women are significantly under-represented in the energy sector, making up a much smaller portion of the workforce than in other industries, especially in leadership and technical roles.
According to statistics, just over 20% of workers in the energy sector worldwide are women, making them a minor portion of the workforce overall. In order to foster innovation, tackle difficult energy problems, and guarantee access to sustainable energy solutions, there must be more women in leadership positions across various energy sectors, such as: solar, wind, nuclear, hydro power, energy efficiency, and carbon capture technologies to name a few.
The involvement of women is crucial for driving the transition to cleaner and more sustainable energy sources, addressing climate change.
